Having fun but freaking out

OMG Dance was so much fun today! And such a workout! "Bollywood Dancing" involved a lot more physical activity than I had anticipated. Like I said to my 'class' before we began, if you do it properly, your legs should be aching by the end of it. And boy, were they!

Aside from that, Choir has been great. We're beginning to work on Grease songs now, which is always fun! I had a blast singing "Summer Lovin", but I still can't get JohnTravolta's falsetto bit right!

SRC has been hectic, to say the least. I have been trying to follow Dad's advice about delegating work, but things don't always work out the ay I want them to. I feel like I never have enough time, and keep getting scared at meetings when I feel like I'm the only one talking and everyone else is sitting there bored. I'm also feeling a bit guilty that we're spending so much time working on the stuff on teh agenda, we never get around to what students really want.I'm going to have to change my approach in a bit, if I'm ever going to make this thing work.

MUN has been slightly better. I'm EXTREMELY worried about DHAMUN, especially since I don't even know Security Council procedures yet. It's taking a lot of effort t trsut Vrijen on this, but I keep reminding myself that it's his project, and that I can't expect to do everything myself.

STILL have not heard from BEIMUN about student officer apps :(

AKME is a total mess, but I don;t really want to have to think about it.

In general, I need to be a lot tighter with my organisation if I'm going to get anywhere with IB. I think I'll have to drop choir for the second round of ASP, and stick to "Grease". Let's see how it goes...

I'm getting worried now that I think about everything I'm involved in! Haven't even done my proposals for Room to Read or Anika's dance... !!!

Action hours!

Why in my life did I EVER think that dance would the "easy way out"? Mrs. Carrick had quite rightly told me not to look for one, but I had assumed so for the wrong reasons. It's not about doing an activity that requires less input and being able to pass it off as Action; its about not being able to find such an activity that would in fact be 'easy'.

I mean, when you're running laps around the field, it doesn't really matter if you look like an oaf as long as you finish the distance. On the other hand, dance not only requires coordination, flexibility, strength and stamina, it requires you to look good while doing it. That too, with a smile on your face!

Seriously, though, I think it's not a matter of finding an easy way out, but finding a programme that suits you. I could never (and neither could anyone else for that matter) picture me running around the field kicking around a ball as a sorry excuse for playing sports. During one of the Sports Days, I literally ran through the hurdles! I think it's a matter of finding an activity that I believe is worth the time, and effort, and gives me results that I can be proud of. Only then can I be motivated to push myself to the limit.

Action: that's what it's all about.

I'm off to shake my booty.

Pathetic Fallacy

Advisory class. Tempers are flying. External conflict mirroring my internal turmoil. Muhahahaha!

At any rate, need to reflect on progress up until this point. Hard disk was erased, so have to recreate log. Unfortunately, do not have a copy of my proposals either. Must ask Ms. Garbenis!

SRC has been horrible. Hardly have the time to keep up, plus a lot of the usual politics and misunderstandings and discrepancies...

MUN has been... ineffective. Hardly any CAS - spending too much time on insignificant details. Must check on BEIMUN Student Officer positions.

Choir - only 2 sessions. Ms. Gander absent for one of them. I cannot sing. Haha... life is good!

The business project was relatively successful - now I need to work on a presentation to give to schools.

Would like to submit a proposal for Fitness Week - planning to teach dance with Qareena.

In too much pain to write more.

First Post!

I walways love the first post high of a new blog!

I'm not really sure abouthe purpose of a CAS blog, since we're already doing a LOTTTT of paperwrk on it anyways. I guess it's a way for us to keep track of our own ideas and to inform others about what we're up to regarding CAS. Here are my ideas so far:

  1. SRC - President (yay!)
  2. MUN
  3. Choir
  4. Room to Read
That's it for now...
